Sunday April 13

Today was Sunday, and we were not able to go to the baby house, as they have to "disinfect" on Sundays. We spent the morning at the 'green market' which is an outdoor market that you can purchase anything from food to toilets and anything in between. In the afternoon we all took our 2 hour nap, and then went for another walk. The photos are of the park behind our hotel, and there is a sign in front of part of the park that says it is a SWAT paintball field. There are lots of tanks and missiles in that part of the park.
We have a big week, one of the days, we are not sure when yet, we have an interview with the Ministry of Education officials. If we can convince those officials of our ability to raise the babies, we will go to court on Friday. At that time, the judge will hear from the officials from the Ministry of Education, the doctor from the baby house, the director of the baby house, our facilitator and us, and make the final determination on the adoption of Madina and the other babies. The paperwork we have filled out in the states as well as here in Kazakhstan will make the adoption final and Madina will become a US citizen as soon as she touches down on American soil. She will come home after the 15 day mandatory waiting period for any judicial decisions made in this country and time it takes to issue a passport and birth certificate with her new name. This should take about 25 days, so unfortunately, we will miss her first birthday! Since court has been moved up to April 18, we will fly to Almaty that evening, go to the consulate on Monday to prepare more paperwork, and leave Kazakhstan on Tuesday, April 22...2 days earlier than we expected!! Can't wait to see you all!! Will attempt photos of the market and Madina tomorrow...

Elliott enjoyed the picture of the tank.
Sorry to hear that you'll miss that first birthday. You'll just have to have another birthday when she arrives.
Glad to hear everything is fine and you will be able to come home early.
We are getting ready for a week of vacation. The weather is looking much better and we are hoping to spend lots of time at the park. Katy and Matthew are able to stop fighting long enough to play tag, climb and swing.
Tomorrow we are going to the Bethlehem Library with the Penmans. The library is having a game day for the kids. It's a nice way to kill a couple of hours.
See you all soon.

Hi Chris,
I'm glad you are coming home early. You'll have to let me know what I can get for Medina for her birthday. I can't wait to meet her. I will be up shortly after all of you come home. Kiss Zhanna for me.
Love,
Chris

Glad your dates got moved up and you get out 2 days early. Our dates got moved up and we were still stuck for an extra 5 days. I shouldnt stay stuck, but when its 110 degrees and you've got a sick toddler with a 104 temp, you just want the heck home.

Went to Penmans Sat-had a good time as always. Wish I was a teacher and had this week off like all my friends.

Ran into Lynn (of Glen, Lynn and Krista) in Walmart last night. Thats the first time we got to see Krista in person. What a cutie.

We know you'll do fine at MOE-what they did to us and to other families who already had a kid from Kaz is ask a bunch about the first kid-I dont think they asked a single question about Caden, it was all about Chloe. Well, isnt EVERYTHING all about Chloe? :) I guess they figure if the first kid is doing well then they have no problem with the second.
